The Beatmaniac - Phuck Phenomena

The Beatmaniac was discovered a few years ago at a Hip-Hop event in Germany by Pussy 2000. After seeing him scratch and hearing a box of his funky break Productions the boys quickly signed him to their label Spacefunk.
On the eve of the Millennium The Beatmaniac released his debut single and since
then has had several banging tracks on the label.

The young Beatmaniac first set his hands on a pair of turntables back in '89 which immediately changed his life, filling his mind with a fusion of Hip Hop
and funk beats and giving him an appetite for collecting the original
Funk records that his heroes sampled.
By '92 he had started DJing in clubs in Germany and Holland where he
developed his "scratching" techniques. He went on to win many DJ scratch contests around Germany.

In this time Alex absorbed Hip hop culture including Rap music, Graffiti and Skateboarding and released his first hip hop record, "K-FUNK - for everybody who’s ready to dig". Soon after he built his own studio, DIGITAL BOYCOTT PRODUCTIONS. Rendered a “classic ”K -FUNK still gets regular airplay on German MTV. Quickly picking up Studio technology and mastering Mac Computers it wasn’t long before his music style developed. At the same time he paid the bills by writing music for Television including shows such as GAMES WORLD. The following year his passion for surfing took him to 6th seed in the European surfing league.

By the time He met Andy and Steve of Pussy 2000 his music was now mixing
And sampling many genres but with the roots firmly pinned down with a LARGE break beat. The BEATMANIAC sound was born and led to the first release on Spacefunk. “Funkin Town” Featuring Beat’s in House Rapper, “Bi$kid” received hot reviews and earned him an Interview in 7 Magazine.
Since then a Cheeky bootleg of Alex’s Favourites “ The Supremes” released last year sold like hot cakes and NEO records have moved swiftly in to snap it up.
The next Bootleg looks like creating similar waves. Under the Title of BM, Alex has spliced Armand van Heldens Funk Phenomena together with Eminem to create the Dirtiest Hip House clash so far this year.

New material from the Beatmaniac will be released on Spacefunk's offshoot label; “Second Stage” with The Beatmaniac Album following two EP releases.
WATCHOUT and BEWARE THE BLAST

Review

Just when you thought there couldn't be anymore Slim Shady sampling bootlegs, up jumps another and pokes you in the eye. Armand's 'Funk Phenomenon' (made circa 'Professional Widow') gets hijacked by Em's rapped expletives to create macho musical mayhem and a guaranteed floor filler. Filtered cut-up grooves, some seriously phat basslines and that unique Van Helden-style of drum programming make this totally irresistible, if a touch novelty Ritzy DJ tool. One hot item. 'Tell your friends 'cause i just don't give a...'
